Challenges of project management in Slack channels

On a quest to understand the typical project management challenges among Slack users, we analysed 1,226 posts from the r/Slack subreddit. We found that 10.5% of all posts relate to issues of project management. Among those, the need for Task Tracking and the feasibility of using AI for automating summarisation and task extraction dominate the discussion, followed by Information Overload, Decision Documentation and Cross-Tool Data Sync.

Chat and Track: A study of project management tools through the lens of Reddit

We analysed project management and communication tools mentioned in the r/projectmanagement subreddit and the problems emerging when those tools are used together. MS Project and Jira are by far the most popular tools mentioned. Smartsheet, Monday.com and Asana follow suit. Slack, Email (mainly Outlook) and Microsoft Teams dominate the communication tools. The conversations where both types of tools are mentioned together are dominated by heated discussions of adoption challenges and communication silos.
